A 19th-century French centrepiece or jardinière in deep amethyst cut glass, with an oval body and scalloped rim. The elaborate openwork gilt-bronze mounts are decorated with winged figures, classical motifs and floral garlands.
Swan-neck handles flank the body, which is raised on four lion-paw feet. France, Napoleon III period.
