Each saint is depicted standing in accordance with the traditional Orthodox iconographic canon, with finely rendered details and attributes. The silver plaques are richly worked with pierced and ornamental decoration, enhanced with translucent and opaque enamels in vibrant colours, characteristic of Russian ecclesiastical craftsmanship of the 19th century.
This type of portable devotional triptych was intended for private worship and travel, often executed in precious materials and highly appreciated within aristocratic and ecclesiastical circles.
