Rare Russian Imperial (State) Porcelain Manufactory charger entitled “Motherhood”, painted by M. P. Kirillova after a design by Alexandra Shchekatikhina-Pototskaya in 1921. The composition belongs to the early Soviet avant-garde period while retaining the Imperial porcelain blank.
Marked on the reverse with the Imperial cypher of Nicholas II above the date 2997, the later hammer-and-sickle factory mark dated 1923, serial number 554/16 and the painter’s initials MK.
