(December 14, 1447 – May 26, 1512) was Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1481 to 1512. During his reign, Bayezid consolidated the Ottoman Empire, foiled a pro-Safavid rebellion and ultimately abdicated in favor of his son, Selim I. Bayezid evacuated the Sephardic Jews from Spain after the fall of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada and the proclamation of the Alhambra Decree, and resettled them throughout Ottoman territory, particularly in Salonika.
