A Sèvres bleu-célèste-ground tobacco jar and cover, circa 1768 Pot à tabac, reserved with elongated gilt-edged oval medallions surrounded by formal and foliate gilding, painted alternatingly with long pendants of flowers and leaves and pendants of puce bell flowers, the cover similarly decorated, 15.2cm high, interlaced LL monogram in blue enclosing date letter P, painter’s mark … for J.-B. Tandart (l’aîné), incised marks (small restuck section to rim) (2) Footnotes. A cup and trembleuse saucer of the same date and painted by Tandart with similar decoration, but a green ground, was sold at Christie’s London, 28 November 1977, lot 16.
