A porcelain covered baluster-form vase featuring hand-painted floral bouquets (Deutsche Blumen), including roses, tulips, forget-me-nots and irises, accompanied by scattered insects. The domed lid is topped with a moulded floral-bud finial and decorated with coordinating flower sprays, framed by gilt rims along the mouth and base.

Germany, Meissen Manufactory, 19th century.

The Augustus Rex mark (AR monogram) was originally used on early 18th-century Meissen porcelain created for Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, and his successor. During the 19th century, Meissen and other Saxon porcelain workshops produced pieces bearing this historic mark to meet demand for classic 18th-century porcelain styles decorated with naturalistic German botanical painting.

This piece exhibits traditional Meissen flower-painting techniques, a moulded bud finial and a classic baluster shape.

Condition: Good.
