French rectangular casket in salmon-pink opaline glass with a polished gilt-metal hinged mount, circa 1850–1880.

A rectangular hinged casket box in smooth, opaque salmon-pink opaline glass. The box features clean geometric lines and is fitted with a polished gilt-bronze (ormolu) or gilt-brass hinged mount around the rim.

Throughout the 19th century, major French glassworks produced high-quality opaline glass in a wide spectrum of rare pastel shades, including coral and salmon pink (gorge de pigeon).
