The “Bamboo” model, characterized by its very fluid twisted ribs evoking the eponymous plant, is one of the most famous and emblematic molded decorations of Baccarat crystalworks at the end of the 19th century. Made here in uraline – a glass tinted with the addition of uranium giving it this translucent chrysoprase green shade and its fluorescence under ultraviolet radiation – this toilet or table object wonderfully illustrates the taste for colorful and luminous glassware of the Victorian period and the Belle Époque.
